Training, research and management support are vital to the development of primary health care.

Training is at the core of the specialty of Family Medicine. There are many resources being made available by Jozi Family Medicine including support to Continuing Professional Development and professional training

Research is an important role. There have been various research studies done with the support of Jozi Family Medicine. Jozi Family Medicine has received support from the VLIR Projects and is currently in collaboration with 8 Universities in the EU FP7- funded HURAPRIM Project looking at Human Resource issues in the COPC.

Management of resources is essential in the resource-challenged environments of Africa. There has been little attention to the critical interface between clinical and management issues. We try to get health care workers into Jobs.

There is a need to share resources in all of these. Jozi Family Medicine supports a variety of institutions in the District. Jozi Family Medicine also supports linkages to Family Medicine in South Africa and Family Medicine in Africa.
